True story of the Oyo State Kidnapped students and there teachers as at May 2026


 This is the verified account from police oyo state government FG and victims families as of June 1- 2, 2026

1. What Happened and When
On Friday, May 15, 2026 around 8:00 a.m-9:30 a.m. armed gunman on motorcycles launched coordinated attacks on 3 schools in Oriire LGA, Ogbomoso axis a community grammar School/Community high School, Ahoro Esinle, Baptist Nursery and Primary school, LGA primary school, Esiele. 
They fired shots killed people then abducted pupils,students with staffs before fleeing into the forested belt near Old Oyo national Park. 

2. Casualties 
Death of 2 teachers confirmed in person of Assistant headmaster Mr adesiyan who was shot dead during the attack and maths teacher Michael Oyedokun who was later beheaded by captors in a video which went viral also was a commercial motorcyclist was also killed during the attack.
Abducted numbers vary slightly by source. Community leaders says 46 total: 39 student/pupils and 7 teachers but police confirmed 25 still missing recently 7 students, 18 pupils and 7 teachers. Gov Makinde breakdown: 7 students from community grammar School 18 children.  and 7 teachers from Baptist nursery/primary school. Notable abductee are Mrs Rachel Alamu principal of community high School Ahoro-Esinle. Her husband professor Wole Alamu said kidnappers only want to negotiate with government not family.

3. Aftermath and occurrence status
Kidnappers demands dealing directly with government not families. Ransom demand reported but amount kept secret.
Abducted principal Mrs Alamu released a video begging FG, governor Makinde to dialogue and not to use force.

4. Government Responds 


President Tinubu sent a high level delegation led by chief of staff Femi Gbajabiamila and NSA Nuhu Ribadu to Ogbomoso and also Mr President approved 1,400 guards to be deployed as specialized rescue unit while police launched manhunt, arrested six suspects alleged to be informants.
Oyo SUBEB shut schools in Oriire and 3 neighboring LGAs temporarily.

5. Protests 
NUT ordered indefinite strike from June 1, 2026 until all victims are released. Teachers, students and NAN stage protests in ibadan/Ogbomoso demanding rescue.



6. False Claims to Ignore 
viral posts claiming victims have been released are false. Oyo government and police both debunked it as of 1035 a.m, it is not true. Africacheck also confirmed that there is no rescue yet as of today June 2, 2026 the students and teachers are still in captivity.
Rescue operations are intelligence led, kinetic and non-kinetic, according to the presidency, but families are frustrated and delay.
